Quarantine has been hard on everyone, harder on some more than others. I think I got lucky, although I may be cooped up with someone who has a different moral standing and political views to me, at least I’m living with someone who isn’t abusive. I may have had poor mental health at the beginning of quarantine but I’ve blossomed into something magnificent and for the first time in five years, I’m exercising for fun – because I want to, not because someone is forcing me to. And I’m doing things that I know won’t hurt me.
Not everyone has been as lucky as me. For the people furloughed, some of their leave has gone from temporary to permanent with 1.34 million people unemployed between April and June 2020 in the UK.
Some people have been living with abusers, and people who don’t accept them for who they are. And knowing that hurts. Because I’m powerless and I can’t help them.
We’ve been silent over the past month or so, and I apologise for that.
We’ll be back as soon as we can be.
If you need help, there are people out there for you.
